J.E. Kelley also known as Ed Kelley, was a black mystic from Ada, Oklahoma. He was a seer, a fortune teller, and a walker between the spiritual and physical worlds.
Kelley was born in 1877 and the date of his death is unknown. According to the U.S. 1930 Census Bureau, his wife's name was Vernice, and his daughter's name was Esther.
It's quite apparent from the Ardmore Daily Amoreite Newspaper article dated October 17, 1930, that Kelley was known throughout Ada, Oklahoma, as someone who could assist people with distressing problems. One such situation involved the missing body of Edgar Alton, a farmer.
According to the article, Mrs. Edgar Alton and her two brothers-in-law, Harlan Sullivan and Hardy Nichols, were arrested for Edgar Alton's murder. The search for Alton's body proved futile and consequently, search party organizers contacted Ed Kelley for assistance. He in turn, directed them to a ravine where Alton's decomposing body was found.
More than likely, Ed Kelley solved many problems on behalf of Ada's citizens using his psychic abilities.
